How to Change Stats on Faction Gear? [New World Guide]

Customize your faction gear with these 3 easy steps.

Your gear's stats define your character. It won't be smart to spend days farming tokens to buy an item that doesn't suit your character 100%. In New World there's a system that allows you to customize faction gear in a way that you want it.

However, the game doesn't really introduce it to you and your best way to discover it is by chance. That's why we came up with this article to help you make the most of your faction items right now. There are just 3 simple steps.

No, ROFL, not this seal! Not the funny aquatic mammal with flippers!

The seal we're gonna need is an item that changes one of your item's stats to another one. You can buy it from a faction representative. Mind you, that it works with faction armor only: it won't work with any other armor and it won't work with any weapons, even faction ones.

So you choose a seal with the stats that you need and purchase it with 100 tokens. You can buy it even if your faction rank is the lowest one. 

There are 4 types of seals and each of them adds a particular stat:

1. Barbarian (red) –  Strength
2. Brigand (green) – Dexterity
3. Cleric (blue) – Focus
4. Occultist (purple) – Intelligence

Also, all of these seals add constitution.

Another important thing to remember: if you apply a seal to an item with a gem in the socket, the gem is destroyed. So make sure to buy/craft another gem to fill the socket after the change of stats.

2. Prepare for the Procedure

The faction item that you want to customize must be fully repaired. If it's broken (the durability is not full), you won't be able to apply the seal to it. To fix an item just press R + left click the item, then press E.

You also must have at least 50 Azoth on your character.
Make sure you bought the right seal, prepare a new gem, put the item in the inventory (it must be in your bag, not on your character), and  head to either forge (Heavy armor) or outfitting station (Medium or Light armor).

Interact with the one that suits your gear type. You'll see a regular crafting window but with an additional category on the left: the faction gear category (1 in the image above). You will see it ONLY if you've done everything in the previous steps – if you missed something, most likely you won't see it.

Now choose the item you want to customize and the seal you want to apply (2). If you have multiple seals you'll see multiple options for one item (1). Make sure you're changing the right stats (3). Then just click the huge button CRAFT (4) on the bottom right – and there you go! Your item now has the stats you wanted.
